I've been spending some time at a website that is working an urban homestead. She has a lot of good information for people who have a small space. She's even raising chickens, rabbits and goats!

I've decided to order 15 broilers which will be ready for the meat processor in 6 - 8 weeks and then
10 Barred Rocks for egg layers. The hatchery wants to sell me straight run though for broilers, but I don't want any males. I might run into problems with my order because of this. Can you imagine a bunch of males in a small coop?

That's heart warming! What a lovely man. Right up my street talking about fresh home-grown everything. Why doesn't everyone do it?
