Finally some Abbey Pictures
Abbey is my niece, my youngest brother's daughter. His family went to the cabin with us over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Then we have the "Daddy Cow" and Abbey game. Abbey says, "Daddy, do the cow". Daddy starts out with a long, low, mooooooooooo. Abbey runs and the Daddy Cow chases.

I don't know why the dates on the pictures are wrong, but they are way off!
Look how sweet this next picture is:

I haven't been hiding!
Just very busy. Garden update: some tomato plants are still producing, still harvesting some green onions, pole beans. Waiting to harvest basil seeds.
I've peeled and packed garlic cloves in olive oil. The skins were becoming discolored and I began to worry that they would spoil. How deliciously fragrant that jar is when it's opened!
I'm dreaming of next year's garden and how I will plant it. Next year I will have a whole bed of basil, harvest and preserve more than half and use the rest for meals fresh. I'll share the rest of my plan soon ~ have to run off to work right now!

Rainy Weekend
Well, the weather hasn't cooperated with me this weekend, but I have accomplished other things. Our winters can be extremely harsh here so we tend to leave our indoor projects for those months. We live in an old house which is in need of various repairs. One of which is the entire kitchen.
When I moved in back in 1982 my kitchen had a metal sink cabinet, old Magic Chef stove and a canning table (used for putting up food). After about 5 years a friend of mine gave me her old cabinets when she had her kitchen remodeled. I was very thankful. However, they take up so much of our space that we've decided to re-think this room and plan for change. It's fun and my husband even looks forward to it. This means it will actually get done! It looks like this will be our winter project.
This means he'll get new tools ;-) and he's happy.
I'm going to go out and see what's going on at the pond. I hope everyone's had a great weekend!

Ahh, It's Friday!!!
Here we are at the end of another week. I have a whole weekend to take care of my poor garden that has become over-run with weeds.
I have plans to just spend the whole morning out there weeding and cleaning up. I will order the mushroom manure and have it delivered. Hopefully I'll get the beds all cleaned up and can turn in the manure.
Next year, when I order my seeds, I'll also order a cover crop so that as the beds quit producing I'll plant it.
We have a couple of new frogs in the pond. It took a long time for them to arrive! Usually we see them in the summer.
It's an "air quality action day" again. It will be hot, humid and air pollution is a problem to people with breathing problems. None of our buses have air conditioning so it will be an uncomfortable day driving in the city. All the more reason to appreciate the weekend, huh?

Awards
Fiona, over at The Cottage Smallholder blog has given me two blogging awards!! The first one is

The Thoughtful Blogger Award is for “those who answer blog comments, emails, and make their visitors feel at home on their blogs. For the people who take others’ feelings into consideration before speaking out and who are kind and courteous. Also for those bloggers who spend so much of their time helping other bloggers design, improve, and fix their sites. This award is for those generous bloggers who think of others.”

The Power of Schmooze Award is for bloggers who “effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”
Thank you Fiona.....I'm having a great time getting to know you and all these other bloggers out here in the blogosphere. ;)

Scenic Photos
The pictures below were taken from the mountain I posted about when we last went to Potter County. This time we got in my brother's pick up truck and went up to this view. It gets better even closer to the top. The river "Y"s and you can see much more. We had groceries in the trunk of my car which we left at the bottom of the mountain.
Perhaps another time we'll get those pictures. We are planning for next year already.

Busy Week
We are still under-staffed at work and I've been too busy to blog. I've popped in and out, but couldn't visit much. We are about to leave once again for the mountains this morning. I'll take more pictures than I did last time.
I may have to become a weekend blogger only!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone and I'll be back on Monday.
